GOLDEN TO THE ROCK OF CASHEL

Follow the Tipperary Heritage Way, past ancient ruins and enjoy the wildlife along the banks of the River Suir.Different species of swans can be seen in the water. Prepare to see the Rock of Cashel, The 4th century castle .

CAPTURE THE CASTLE

Explore the Butler Trail starting at Cahir Castle and them ramble along the banks of the River Suir, to the Swiss Cottage, a romantic, beathtaking folly, built for Lord Cahir as a Hunting & Fishing Lodge 1812

LOOP THE LOOP IN BALLINACOURTY

From Christ the King in the Glen of Aherlow, follow the waymakred path on the Ballincourty. loop walk and take in the views of the Galtee Mountains. Experience the freedom of the grest outdoors and green gym for adventure and fun for all the family.

IF YOU GO DOWN THE WOOD TODAY

Glengarra Wood, on the southern slopes of the Galtees has two looped walks to choose from - the Red Loop or the Millenium (Green)Loop Tail. You will be amazed of the fantastic variety of trees.

 

The Red loop is very popular with Children- it crosses the Burcourt River and the tress are tagged and named.  - Bring a Picnic and make a day out

DISCOVER THE UNKNOWN

Follow Forest paths with fantastic view in the Knockmealdown Mountains on the historical liam lynch loop. This moderate walk take you off the beaten track and reward you with Tipperary's finest green countryside and rolling landscapes

A HIDDEN GEM

 

Take time out to walk the Dun Ui Faolain Loop- a hidden gem on the outskirts of Clonmel, beyond Marlfield Village. There are three extremely pleasant 5 km rambles through old woods and along the bank of the River Suir , a wildlife sancturary rich in biodiversity.

BUTLERS & CASTLES

 

Following the famous East Munster Way, walk from Ormond Castle (the famous Buter Home) in Carrick on Suir to Kilsheehan. Relax along the River Suire

Start:Pick up the East Munster Way at Ormond Castle Carrick on Suir      Finish: Kilsheehan

WALK THE WALLS

 

Walk around Fethard's medieval walls built in 1292, and explore its Norman history and Irish culture.         Dont miss Holy Trinity Church(c1200) and the Augustinian Abbey (c1300) both still in use

BOGS & BUTTERFLIES

 

Visit the best bog in Tipperary - the Lough Doire Bhile Loop is rich in boidiversity and a haven for butterflies. Bring a picnic and spend a day exploring the flora & fauna.

OVERLOOKING KILCOOLEY

 

The historical Grange Crag Loop with its Victorian Ice House and Wellington Monument looks down on Kilcooley Abbey and has views accros the whole of Tipperary. The path is definately off the beaten track and well worth the effort. Just think of the achievement.
